Friday links to love!

collage

It's been a good week in these parts, very uneventful but sometimes those are really the best kind of weeks.  I feel like I'm still recuperating from being out of town so much the past couple of months and I am seriously relishing in all of this home time, with no plans to go anywhere for weeks. Today is a gloomy day, but I am really hoping the sun will start shining soon since we have a photoshoot on Sunday! Crossing our fingers.

For now though, here are some links to start your weekend off with a smile!

Tattooers for Japan- what a neat idea.

J. Crew now has a blog! YES!

My friend Emily is having a huge sale in her (adorable, amazing) Etsy shop this weekend for a great cause.

I am loving this hair round up. So inspiring for springtime looks!

And speaking of spring, this collection of springtime flower crafts is really awesome.

A new blog friend of mine, Kristine, recently moved to Japan and I am dying over her amazing updates. You should follow along too! She's wonderful.

Have you checked out my pal Megan's Tucson Tuesday feature?  I'm starting to see that town in a whole new light!

I need this cake pan. Just imagining all of the amazing-looking tiny cakes made possible with this thing is making my inner-Martha swoon.

I love sandwiches and I love this post!

Have you visited Marie's blog yet? It's really great.

A friend got us this magical kitchen tool and I'm definitely looking forward to creating some homemade baby food with it.

I've posted about these beautiful necklaces before, and now A Cup of Jo is giving one away! It would be a perfect match with my tattoo.

Learn to read your baby's sleep signals. New mamas, this was a good read!

I came across this Free People dress in the new catalog yesterday and fell in love. Need/want.

Mandi's post here is making me want to drop everything, grab my vintage swimsuit, and head to the shore!

How adorable is this hot air balloon mobile DIY? So perfect.

This baked spinach looks so good. We have some spinach in the fridge I may try this with this weekend.

I LOVE this idea for a wedding! Love love loooove. Here's a link to the actual post.

I always adore Don and Rachel's videos. This one is no different. I wish NY and AZ were closer!

And finally, this engagement photo session is just lovely.

Friday links to love (and a couple blog-related items)

happy baby

Whoa...Friday, already? I feel like I just gathered together links for last week's post. However, I am not one to complain about a weekend, so here we are! This weekend should be a great one- Hank is recording with one of his bands, family is in town, and Adie and I have a bit of a movie night planned. I'm feeling really inspired, and that "spring" feeling is all around- everything feels like it's renewing itself, including me!

And speaking of things being fresh and new, there are going to be some tiny changes coming to this little blog of mine. A couple new, super exciting projects/features (one this month, one next month as Slice of and Mama Said wind down), and also a change in how I do ads. This month I will be doing the final "large" giveaway, and in the future focusing on one to two separate ones, both from me and from sponsors. This month I'll be introducing that concept into the mix, with an additional two giveaways in the next couple of weeks- one fashion related, one food related this time! This change also allows me to put my sponsor money back into my blog and do my own giveaways in the future. I NEVER want this blog to be all about ads or prizes, and I just don't like doing my own in addition to a whole huge one from my amazing sponsors- I've done it before but it really gets too cluttered. So if you're someone who is interested in hosting a giveaway here, I'm absolutely open to the idea, but I do have a waiting list so please get in contact with me asap if you'd like to work with Sometimes Sweet in that capacity. I LOVE treating my readers to fun things so feel free to email me.

And while we are on the topic of blog-related items, please check out my "Blogs I Love" page. I'm STILL updating it, but I have the bulk of it done so definitely check out each of them- they're all very inspiring and wonderful. Don't forget to check out all my new sponsors in my sidebar too!

Also- on Monday I'll be publishing a post about how-to plan a meet up in YOUR area, written by Kelsey, Chelsea and myself...so keep you eyes peeled!

And in the meantime, here are some links to check out-

Dena's how-to on planting succulents is great!

Blueberry yogurt cake? Whoa...

This blog is a new favorite of mine. What a doll!

Even though Henry will attend public school, the extremely insightful comments on my friend James' post are really interesting!

Check out an interview I did over on Polly's blog the other day.

Lauren recommended a neat-looking book and I'm definitely excited to check it out.

So- I love pie, and I love Chelsea...so this post was right up my alley.

Ashley is another new favorite blog (thank you AZ Blogger Meetup), and I am dying over her outfit here. Kate Spade is one of my faves.

Leigh-Ann's style/inspiration board is inspiring me too, all the way from Canada! So cute.

Two of my favorites pairing up: Megan on Emily's blog! Awesome.

Susannah has a great new feature that's definitely worth a read.

Two other ladies are putting together meet ups in their states: Missouri and Texas.

Luggage tags for readers- if only they came in more titles!

Jessica and family took a fun vacation and their photos make me want to take one too!

I am loving this fabric.

Lauren's roundup of little baby shoes is too cute! I have started getting into buying tiny shoes for Henry and it's kind of addictive.

Okay. I am obsessed with organization and obsessed with this freebie! Thank you, thank you!

If I was decorating for Easter I'd absolutely do this DIY. All sorts of adorable, and cheap/easy too!

This dress, in my closet, now please! These shorts too. Thanks.

And finally, I leave you with this little piece of amazing-ness. Scroll down and watch the workout video. You can thank me later!

Hello and happy Friday...or happy end of your Friday! I hope today wraps up the end of a great week, and you have something special planned for this weekend. As for me, the meetup is tomorrow and then we'll be celebrating my Mom's birthday on Sunday. We got her an awesome gift, and I'm excited to give it to her. Birthday really are the best.

Here are some links to get your weekend started:

I really love this birthday video. Like really love it.

This book will definitely find a spot on our bookshelf come October. Wonderful!

Do you follow My Little Artichoke yet? You should!

What a cute way to announce a pregnancy! So simple.

Michelle wrote an extensive post on at-home workouts, definitely worth a read!

Katie and Beatrix's video is the sweetest. Have a look.

This "spot of tea" collection is adorable.

This refreshed outdoor dining set is just lovely. I wish I would have thought about this before we donated our old ones.

Stella McCartney's spring/summer line for kiddos is absolutely killing me. Check it out.

I always love Kaylah's Friday Favorites and this week is no different.

This engagement photo session is adorable.

Sigh, Diana is in Italy, that lucky girl. I adore the little video she made too.

Here's a links post in a links post! I couldn't resist though- Jen picked some amazing things to check out.

The sweet Kaelah is enagaged, and her Wedding Wednesday features have me wanting to do it all over again too! So much prettiness in one place.

And finally, a reader sent me this recipe for roasted kale chips with sea salt. I can't wait to try it!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Friday links to love!

Happy Friday everyone! Today's going to be a great day, I just know it. Here are some links to start off your weekend.

One week and one day until the Arizona Blogger Meetup! I'm so excited. Hank, Henry and I are only able to be there for the dinner portion but we are so excited to meet all of you. Don't forget to prepay dinner so we can count you in on the RSVP too! I will post a list of the attendees next Thursday.

Mamas, have you checked out Family Freakout? It's the newest project from the lovely Samantha of Missbehave Mag so you know it's going to be rad.

In love with this entire collection of green-tinted prettiness. Perfect for St. Paddy's yesterday.

These mini strawberry cheesecakes are calling my name.

Um, and these raspberry crumble squares too. My healthy dessert list pales in comparison to these decadent treats!

I am really loving this California home tour on Made By Girl.

Mama of a boy? Celebrate the boy with this roundup of all things boy-related!

Interior inspiration for book lovers. Need I say more?

I am obsessed with this Party in a Box and WILL be making some of these for future birthdays. So awesome!

The sweet Erin talked about an important 20 minutes...

I must be craving sugar because these mini-peach pies are getting me really excited. And yes, I've already posted three dessert links. OH WELL.

I love these 5 simple tips for improving your blog!

I love Mandi's meaningful art for a function-less corner.  It got me a little inspired to finish hanging up the art we have stacked in our guest room closet!

Kelly-Ann has the best eye for all things pretty, and I especially love the "Feels Good to Get Some Stuff Done" print.

Cole's handmade take on wedding boutonnieres and bouquets are way too cute.

Going out to eat? Check out Parents Magazine top 10 healthy, family-friendly places to dine.

This lovely and inspiring post makes me want to go on a run in NY. Or perhaps even another run with my friend Emily through Brooklyn!

This is SUCH a great (and long) list of baby must-haves for new parents.

Such a neat poster.

And finally, one of my dear college sorority sisters/friends Amy started a blog! If you have a moment, pop over and say hello.

I'll leave you with a photo from the frozen yogurt date we had with my Mom this morning (I made her wear a pair of my sunglasses)! haha. Have a great weekend.

Friday links to love!

loved the swings as a kid

Happy Friday! Here are some links to start your weekend off right:

First, check out this fun spring dress roundup I did on Oh So Lovely for her Spring Fling series! Be sure to check out the other posts too, they're great.

Even though Henry doesn't ride in the grocery cart without his carseat yet, this article still gave me the creeps.

Here are some of my readers' "30 photos" posts: Maria, Megan, Decoy, Tiffany, Liz, and Kelly!

I thought this "New Mom Survival Guide" was pretty awesome.

Kind of need this yellow scalloped shirt from Top Shop. Adorable!

Jess' new feature, "Papa Post," is so awesome! I'm looking forward to checking these out every month.

Another new feature I'm obsessed with: Liz's Geek Chic. Maybe if I ask nicely she'll make me a cute email signature too... ;)

Get ready to see this all over the internet- and with good reason- how cute is this look?

Another piece of clothing I NEED: this Lauren Moffat dress. Get into my closet!

This entire collection of inspiring photos made my brain hurt, but in a good way. Bookmarked and saved.

Erin's classroom looks so cozy and inviting! I want to re-enroll in elementary school just so she can be my teacher.

Personalized iPhone cases? Yes please!

I am so in love with Chelsea's Project ReStyle side table/nightstand. We've been working on our house like crazy and this was a nice bit of inspiration.

So my sweet friend Anita's daughter Lola Birdie is one of the cutest little ladies I know...and this video only makes me love her more. Bieber fever? Maybe.

This post on Marcella's blog made me happy and was a great reminder on so many levels.

Loved this month-by-month baby photo inspiration roundup. As you know we're doing a monthly series for Henry and it's just so great to see his progression.

One of my lifetime dreams is to attend this festival.

I really, really enjoyed this interview and I'm happy that LA shared this artist with all of us! So awesome.

I've loved reading all of Kelsey's posts about living more healthfully, and this one about "good fats" is a great read.

I just adore this dress.

Want to see one of the cutest babies ever? Head over to Jazmyn's blog and say hello to her daughter Alyson. So, so adorable.

Have you entered this month's giveaway yet?

How great is this cardigan embellishment tutorial? I have some old tired sweaters that could use this pick-me-up!

And finally, I am beyond excited to receive this movie in the mail via Netflix! I need to hurry and finish the book!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday links to love!

henryphoto

Happy weekend everyone! I've been having the best week, and it looks like my weekend is happily shaping up to be just the same. I'm looking forward to lunch with a bunch of girlfriends at Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert this afternoon, date night back in Prescott this evening while Henry's grandparents babysit, Saturday's lunch with my sweet sister-in-law, Phoenix again that night with the family for hangouts and one of our dearest friend's birthday party on Sunday. Can you say busy? It's all such fun stuff though, I can't complain. I haven't been this happy in a long, long time and I attribute it to all the wonderful people in our life...I feel lucky. So if you're one of those wonderful people, thank you! I love you.

But now, here are some links to get your weekend started right:

I think this video on how to do a baby turban is the cutest. Plus, I adore Rachel/her blog.

Love this tea party.

You guys. I am DYING over Kristin's trip to India. Her photos are absolutely beautiful.

Shatter polish giveaway? Okay! Thanks Holly Sarah!

This is probably one of my fave blogs right now, which is ironic. Click the link and you'll see why. ha.

Super cute silhouette print. I think would make a darling wedding present.

I really like this Tumblr. And pretty much Tumblr in general.

Lindsay's hand screen-painted fabric is so, so pretty.

A new friend of mine, Megan, started a blog! I promise, you'll love it. She's super sweet, has great style, and blogs about her day to day life. Go say hi!

How adorable is this necklace? "Going steady," so cute.

Take a look at this proposal video. To die for adorable. !!!

So, I loved the '90s. And here, you can take a little quiz about the most popular names from the 90s. Kinda love it!

Spaghetti with lemon and olive oil. So simple but so perfect.

I was a Girl Scout growing up (stopped when I was a Brownie), and I've always been fascinated by the history of the organization. Here's a little bit about the rebranding they recently did. Be sure to click one the "more" button to read about each section. I'm a nerd, I know.

Both my Dad and Hank will love this: Time Magazine's All-Time 100 Greatest Toys!

The fabulous Jess is featured on my sweet friend Mandy's blog today!

Here's one of the most stylish grandmas I've ever seen! Too cute.

Mamas of adventurous kiddos: how neat is this "design your own superhero cape kit"? A DIY would be totally doable/cheaper/cooler, but I like how this all comes in one little package. Fun.

I'm constantly bookmarking cute party ideas for little ones- and yes, call me crazy but I'm already planning Henry's first birthday party.

I adore this photoshoot background. Well, I basically adore the whole photoshoot.

Vegan and fondue don't always seem like they'd go together. Well guess what? THEY DO!

And finally, I LOVE Katie's half up/half down milkmaid braids. Such a cute look.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone! xoxo

Friday links to love!

Happy, happy Friday! I think I mentioned it the other day, but Hank finally put photoshop on my computer so I've been playing with it like a maniac (hence the photo above, and the million more photos that I'm sure will appear here to announce features and posts and probably even what day it is). ha. But really, it's so fun! I can't wait to get really great at it. I used it a lot when I was younger but alas, I don't remember too much. Luckily Hank is really good, so he can refresh my memory. Regardless, I wanted to share my little weekly round up of links with all of you. But first, some random thoughts:

I FINALLY got around to watching Skins (UK version). Weeks ago I attempted, and didn't like it, but the other day Henry was on a long nap so I stuck with it and ended up falling in love. I finished all of season one and I'm one episode into season two. I am so in love with Cassie and Sid! I also got a chance to watch some of the US version and although I am a Skins newbie, I can already tell that our version is a sad, horrible rip off. Do not want. I'm realizing though that I kind of really like British television. There's just something about it- it's a lot more...real? I don't even know. But a couple years ago I got obsessed with Footballer's Wives and watched every episode. Skins has that same feel to it, so I'm thinking it must be something with the television programs over there.

I feel like I am bursting out of the seams with ideas and inspiration. It's almost as if I'm back to my "old" self before being pregnant. And not like pregnancy made me less myself, but now I feel just more alive and happier than ever. Hard to explain so I'll probably just stop here. I do think it has something to do with the impending warmer season...I'm so excited and I can't help but feel beyond optimistic for all to come.

I went thrifting! And I LOVED it! For those who know me well, you know what a big deal this is. I've been grossed out by thrift stores for a long time now (much to my own dismay) and although some of my favorite dresses are either thrift finds or vintage, I always got weird about it. But, my dear and sweet friend Adie took me, and I had the best time! I found an adorable little something for a friend, and an amazing handbag too. It shocks me to say this, but I can't wait to go again!

And last thought- speaking of Adie, we are starting a ladies craft night as soon as The Bachelor is over. Yes, we are THAT cool and plan our evenings around a tv show. Hello, it's the Bachelor (and Emily better win). But anyway, since I've become a Mom I feel like all I ever want to do is craft and make things, it's wonderful. So we're getting together some awesome gals to come over to my house for an evening of good food, friendship, and creating! Exciting.

And now...on to the links! Enjoy.

This week I was featured on a few blogs, so definitely check those out: I shared a post during Jamie's love week, the sweet Nirvana featured me in a fitness post, my crockpot chili was on the darling Ali's blog, and I did a Mama Style feature on James' blog! I've been quite the busy little blogger.

I love a lot of the detail in this gender-neutral baby shower!

The sweet Kelly Ann sent me this video. "Oh Henry." I love it so much.

Now that I'm a mommy, I know what an amazing gift it is to have a child. A lovely lady by the name of Angela (and her husband) are having an adoption auction to raise funds to adopt from Taiwan. The auction ends tonight at 9pm Eastern time, so hop on over if you have a moment. And good luck Angela and family!

Loved this article about co-sleeping to crib and making the transition.

I never thought a wreath made out of paper cups could look so good!

I am OBSESSED with this cake! I want to make one tomorrow, just because. Such a cute idea.

This artist's reason for "making stuff" is awesome.

Liz posted her DIY jewelery organizer! Super cute.

I've been looking for a cute recipe box and cards for awhile now, and I am loving this one!

I swear to god I reblog EVERYTHING Jess posts on her Tumblr. So good.

My new blog pal Cassie is having an awesome giveaway for a great cause. Check it out.

I am such a sucker for a cute peter pan collar, and Diana kind of hit the jackpot!

I am loving this round up of floral art.

My pal Marcella threw her daughter the sweetest 1st birthday ever! You definitely need to take a peek.

No-fry, homemade churros? Oh my god. I need them, now.

I love playlists, and I especially love playlists entitled "Music for a Slow and Cloudy Day."

So. If I was to get married again, I would totally enter this giveaway on my friend Melissa's blog. It almost seems too good to be true...but amazingly, it's not! Engaged people, go enter!

Oooh, two of my favorite ladies coming together- I love it!

And finally: blood orange olive oil cake. Doesn't that just sound enticing?

Have a great weekend everyone! Love!

Saturday link love

photo

Hello, weekend! Since becoming a stay-at-home mama I kind of, sort of live for the weekends. The weeks are great too, but on Saturday and Sunday Henry and I get lots of papa-time, we go out and do things as a family, and I am able to get things done I don't get to tackle during the week, like trying a new recipe or spending an hour at Target sans baby. Yeah, I know, I get pretty wild. This weekend I will be wrapping up a huge handful of guest posts that I've had on my plate for awhile, doing a couple around the house projects, and then of course having a fun night out with the two guys in my life for an early Valentine's day. I'm thinking we'll do Indian food like last year. Yum!

In the meantime, here's a nice little list of links that made me smile this week:

My sweet friend Jen is doing the most darling Valentine's posts- check it out here.

I am so loving this song, and the video too. Sometimes I wish I had a beautiful song-bird voice like this.

Speaking of awesome songs, my pal Jessica is quite the song bird herself.  So awesome.

Next year I am so doing this Valentine's advent calendar. Adorable.

Super fun idea over on Freckled Nest- I may just have to do six of my own next week!

I am so into all of these beautiful Valentine's on the Kate Spade page. And even better, you can send them to your friends and lover(s?). If you only click one link from this list, make it this one! Way too cute.

I sent these decorating ideas for renters over to Amber today- some of these ideas are pretty cool.

So I was visiting one of my favorite blogs ever, and noticed I was listed as one of her daily reads too! Does that ever happen to you? I squealed from excitement. I love Samantha and her super adorable family, and you will too!

I posted this dress on Tumblr earlier in the week when I spotted it and fell in LOVE. I need it, I want it.

Ham and Egg Crepe Squares?! Need I say more?

These happy hearts make ME so happy. Pretty.

I'm obsessed with the messy side ponytail, but never thought to pin it half up first. I can't wait to try this.

Interesting article about postpartum depression...not just for Moms!

I am pining away for this yellow chevron dress from Elsie's collection. You guys. How amazing is it?! I can only imagine how wonderful the rest of the pieces will be.

I recently came across this great blog when a handful of my fave ladies did guest posts this past week. Check them all out!

Definitely enjoying all of these mama guest posts on one of my favorite blogs!

Do you want to see the cutest maternity shoot ever? Thought so. Click here.

I love this paper flower DIY.

Homemade truffles. Don't they look delicious?

And finally, live in Phoenix? Here's a list of organic restaurants in the area, originally tweeted by my pal Emily.

Happy clicking!

I definitely have to start out with this amazing news! Yay for two of my favorite ladies, Kelly Ann and Mandi. So happy for them...and all of FN!

Here's an awesome giveaway for those who'd like to expand their craftiness and get inspired.

Have a daughter? Why NPR says keeping little girls clean may make them sick.

You guys know how much I love monograms...well here's a fun twist: yarn-wrapped letters! I love it, and this would be perfect in a nursery or kid's room too.

Yay! This great show is coming back next week. Remember this? Adorable.

You guys. I am head over heels in love with this elopement shoot via one of my fave wedding blogs, The Loveliest Day.

I love these quick, kid-friendly (and husband-friendly!) breakfasts.

And keeping on the kid theme for a minute, I am so obsessed with this wall of books. Henry needs something just like this!

Check out these stunning wedding head pieces. Swoon!

Science Valentines. So awesome! The nerd in me is especially loving the Marie Curie and Stephen Hawking version.

More Valentines. "We go together like Bill Cosby and pudding pops." That one alone makes the entire link worth visiting.

I want, I need this wallpaper in my life, in our home.

Just started this book today and I am LOVING it, and will definitely be posting a book review at its conclusion. Hopefully it continues to stay so engaging; I already can't wait to see the film when I'm done!

Volkswagen and Darth Vader. All sorts of cute.

If only they made this little girl's Valentine's Day dress in my size.

And finally, my husband's band Hour of the Wolf has teamed up with Super 7 to present a super limited run of a toy/record combo that goes on sale tonight at 7pm Arizona time. Hank's ecstatic, and that's pretty awesome to me.

Happy weekend everyone!

Links to love!

our table
from my friend's wedding last year. Love it/my adorable friends. Hi Erin!

Hi everyone, and happy Thursday!  Here are some fun links to get you into the beginning of your weekend!  Enjoy.

How cute is this video?  I've never really gotten into the whole Facebook chat thing, but you can bet this was the case for me when I was all about AOL and later AIM.  Too funny.

I am loving these DIY thank you cards via my pal Allie and her darling 1-year old Henry.

Classic stars and their bikes? Okay! Such a cute post.

Interesting article on gender and identity- discusses everything from Disney princesses to internet culture.

365 days of ampersands?! How did I miss this?

I really adore this DIY "EAT" sign and definitely plan on making one for our kitchen shelf. I also happen to adore the blog where I found it, which I just came across when she left the address in my "what's YOUR blog?" post.  So happy to meet all of my readers. I'm slowly but surely making my way down the list, so if I haven't stopped by yet, I will!

I love me some muffins, and I love me some Chelsea, so this was a great mix! Can't wait to try out this recipe.

Love this interview with one of my favorite artists, the talented Angelique Houtkamp.

Why having a toddler is like living in a frat house. Yup.

Adeline's Dad, Don, is definitely a Super Dad/Man!  Go Addy's Daddy go!

Another adorable wedding video. It makes me want to get married to Hank all over again. So sweet.

Ever have an awkward moment when you were a pre-teen? Yeah? Me too. And probably everyone else. Submit your funny anecdote to this radical new zine and get that embarrassment off your chest once and for all. ;)

My sweet best friend Amber found her holy grail of red lipsticks!

I'm dying. Just LOOK at this bedroom makeover on one of my favorite blogs. Can't wait to read about the details.

Love this collection of "cutesy retro" interior design on another one of my fave blogs. Eye candy for sure.

That's it! Have the best day, xoxo.

It's MLK Day today, and this is a great link to check out.  What a wonderful man.

I love this cute lampshade DIY.

You guys know how much I love silhouettes.  This post is chock full of so many amazing ideas!

Fellow mamas: I definitely enjoyed this article about why "Mom guilt" is good, and maybe you will too.

And speaking of great articles, I found this one about Mormon Mommy-bloggers oh-so great and especially interesting since she was talking about some of my blogger pals!  Definitely a must-read.

How cute are these baby announcement plaques on Etsy?  I want to get one for Henry.

I have a new television obsession.  The X Life!  The guys remind me of all the boys I grew up with, and the show is totally entertaining. Have you seen it?

I think this DIY felt flower wreath is really cute, and would adorable for the spring.

I adore these photos of Rachel, and I'm so excited to check out the Red Velvet spring lookbook.

One of my readers sent me this link via Craigslist and it made me giggle.

Links to love!

Happy Monday everyone!  Here are some links to start your week off right:

I love ideas for meals- especially lunches when I was working- and one of my favorite blogs has provided us with two lengthy inspirational post here and here.  Love this so much.

Kate Spade has joined the baby bag boom and has produced a line of super cute diaper toting satchels.  I'm impartial to the Splodge Dot Randi.  Pricey, but if you want to splurge then these are fun options!

My friend Danielle is sending her blog readers Valentines!  Such a cute and lovely idea.

I love this DIY.  We have about ten similar gold frames hanging out in our garage that are begging to be turned into something beautiful. I think one of them may go this way.

The concept of paying it forward is a good one, and I've had this post bookmarked for inspiration since December.

My sweet pal Liz never ceases to make me smile with her posts. I love this one- cute outfit, a fun lunch date, and an awesome bike. What's not to love?

Being post c-section I found this article about postpartum exercises really interesting.

You all were curious about more quinoa recipes- try this site for about a million!

I sent this link to one of my best friends Erin the other day.  I knew she'd love all of the awesome, creepy prints and maybe you will too!

Here's a movie of a dinner and a movie (yup, you read that right) on my friend Jess' blog.

I love this homemade hair mask recipe. Definitely going to try it this week.

Earlier this week I guest-posted on my pal Mandi's blog, but did you scroll through and read the rest of the posts in the Catching Confetti series? They are SO good and inspiring.  I also found a couple new blogs to love.

Today was Day One in this darling blogger's "40 Days to a Physical and Spiritual Revolution."  You go girl! ;)

Have a great week!

Update/links!

Hi everyone, I hope your Wednesday is going splendidly!  Today has been a pretty good day: Henry slept well last night which allowed me 9 hours of sleep- three 3 hour blocks interrupted only for changing and feeding.  Once we were up and at 'em, we headed out so I could get my regular facial peel at my dermatologist's office.  I hadn't gotten one since before I was pregnant, and I was a little concerned with taking H. along, because I was worried he would cry in the waiting room, cry during my appointment, etc...but he didn't!  He was actually awake most of the time, but just looking around with his beautiful, wide eyes.  I was so happy and a lot of my anxiety about taking him out has gone away.  It's nerve-wracking doing these things on my own, and every time I accomplish something like this, even if it seems small and trivial to the average person, I feel very proud of myself and quite accomplished! The rest of the day was spent having a pretty low-key day- I finished Season One of Dexter (loved it) while Henry slept on my chest.  That's one thing I am going to miss SO MUCH when he isn't a baby anymore.  I adore the way he snuggles right up onto me like a little koala, breathing into my neck, hands grasping the sides of my shirt.  It breaks a little piece of my heart off every time he does this, it's the most amazing feeling I've ever had.  I love this little son of ours more than I could have ever imagined...it's seriously so wonderful.  Fellow mamas- wouldn't you agree that nothing is better?! I feel so complete.

But anyway, mushiness aside, here are a few links to enjoy either tonight or tomorrow, whenever you read this!  My guest posts are coming to an end as well, so I'll be back to my regular daily posting.  It's been so nice to have a month of friends helping me out- I was able to schedule their posts, as well as my weekly features ahead of time, so it was wonderful to just focus on keeping my head above water during this first month of mommy-hood.  So again, a BIG thank you to all of my lovely guest posters.  I still have three or four more great ladies to share with all of you, and I'm going to stretch them out into next week.  Good stuff coming your way!

And now, the links:
  • I'm kind of in LOVE with this print.  In fact, I'm in love with this entire site. They also have super cute tee shirts and other goodies.
  • This blog never fails to amaze me...and make me incredibly hungry.  Her cookie roundup has got me beyond inspired to bake, bake, bake!
  • I tweeted about this fantastic blog the other day: Etsy for Baby Boys on Tumblr!  It's chock full of wonderful finds for little dudes, and if you're a mama to a boy, you know how challenging it can be to find cute boy stuff!  This blog does all the work for you, and best of all, all the finds are on Etsy.
  • Do you like Brussels sprouts?  Sarah does!  And I do too.  She shares a wonderful recipe for a delicious looking Brussels sprout dish here.
  • My thumbprint cookies recently did double duty on two very different blogs recently, this week showing up on my friend Melissa's "Treat Week," and last week on Erin's 12 Days of Christmas!
  • One of my favorite blogging ladies, Sarah, is 23 weeks pregnant with her daughter Lottie. How cute is she?!
  • I always look forward to Kelly Ann's "Favorite Things Tuesday."  This week was no disappointment!
  • My pal Liz gave me some new nail inspiration with her post here.  And helllooo amazing yellow dress!
    • And lastly, my favorite poet on one of my favorite Tumblrs. Ever.  If you follow me on that site you know that I reblog an ungodly amount of S. Plath stuff...with good reason!  She's amazing.
    Good night all!

    Friday link love

    Happy Friday everyone!

Here's a photo of me from almost exactly one year ago! Then: I was taking silly photos of myself on photobooth. Now: holding a sleeping newborn baby on my left arm while I type with my right. Ah, how much changes in a year! ...and I wouldn't change it for the world!

    better day today! :)

Today I thought I'd share a little round up of links from around the internet that have caught my eye or tickled my fancy:
    • First, I'm beyond excited for my buddy Leigh-Ann's new blog makeover and good news. Click here to head over to Freckled Nest's new home and "ooh" and "ahh" over that amazing new design. Love it!
    • Also loving this round up of edible holiday gift ideas (and recipes!) via Framed blog- one of my favorite food/cooking spots online.
    • Lately I've been watching some of my old favorite skate videos. I love love skateboarding- I don't do it myself but I was around it my entire life, from all of my guy friends to the boys I ended up dating...and Chad Muska was always my favorite when I was in high school. And by favorite I mean my huge crush. Some girls liked movie stars, other liked pop stars...I was into pro-skaters. haha. This snippet from a Transworld video (from 2000) takes me way back.
    • I think this Russian doll floor cushion would be adorable in a baby girl's nursery! (via I heart Baby)
    • "Fade into You" by Mazzy Star was one of my favorite songs and my girl Jess reminded me of so many happy 90s memories with this post. And seriously, how amazing were the 90s?!
    • I'm a total bookworm and lit-nerd, so this has got to be one of my favorite Tumblrs. It takes everything in my willpower not to reblog a million things a day from this site. You can go to my Tumblr here, too.
    • and finally, you know how much I love playlists. I also happen to adore the darling Amber Joy- so here's the best of both- a "stuck in traffic" playlist on Amber's blog. Stop by, give a listen, and say hello!
I hope all of you have a wonderful, magical weekend. Our plans: lots of baby loving, watching Modern Family, some Mexican takeout, and putting up the Christmas tree. Can't wait. xo
